Our all-summer staff crew will begin training this summer. There are forty-five of us scheduled to be here for a full week of preparation to serve. Training includes policies and procedures that make camp function smoothly. It also includes safety and security instruction to keep both campers and staff out of harm's way. We have lots of water and other inherent dangers associated with outdoor education and recreation. Pray for these young people that the Lord will use them to share their faith in Christ. Many of them have served before and know their roles and responsibilities. Others will have a week to prove that they understand the seriousness side of being on staff and have the maturity to handle the responsibility. Our all-summer cook for the past several years is Bill Fisher. His mother has been very sick and he will not be here for Training Camp. We have grown to depend on Bill, but this year others will have to increase their reponsibilities in the kitchen. Pray for our adult staff as well. Pray for the trainers. Dr. Bill Bradford will be doing the Bible studies and sessions on devotions and nuggets (public speaking) as well as other program (i.e. FUN) activities. Ralph, Lucy, Kitty, and I (Steve) will be involved in teaching various topics. Experienced collegian staff members will also help with the training. Pray for wisdom, health, and strength.
This Saturday (June 13,2009) Ralph will be installing several hundred feet of replacement pipe. It has to be done at one time and the galvanized pipe is quite heavy. We plan to start early in the morning and try to have it installed before the afternoon rains. If you live close enough to join us for the morning we would appreciate your help. Lunch will be provided for workers. Kitchen help is also appreciated. Ten or so helpers are needed (at least). The more help - the lighter the load. This is also our last free evening before seven weeks of camp. We want to get this project done so that we can rest before Training Camp begins on Sunday.
