Thank You!
Items for prayer

Subscription and Changes
The General Board Meeting and Family Day were very
well attended. It was the first fall Board Meeting held here in four years
as the meeting has been rotated around the state. We appreciate the participation
in the committees and the support shown by being here.
There have been some special gifts as a result of board representatives
sharing information provided at this meeting. Thank you all for praying,
giving, and sharing with others about this ministry.
We are often asked for prayer requests. Here are
a few current items.
Health
Kitty has an outpatient procedure scheduled for next week. It is followed
two days later by the Crop in the Woods. It is hard to schedule personal
things between camp events.
Finances and Utilization
First, let us be clear that regular consistent giving has never been better.
However, income from retreats and summer camp were down this year. There
are many folks out of work or under-employed and that has affected our
attendance. We have recently added a few new groups to the schedule for
which we are thankful. It is not just the number of groups we serve, but
the number of guests that can make a difference. Some costs are the same
for a small group or a large group. The staff is in the kitchen all day
for thirty guests or 130 guests. Pray that camp will be well utilized
in the coming months.
One of our largest expenses is insurance. We are inquiring about the
possibility of dropping coverage on the buildings. This may not even be
possible or may not be a significant drop. Liability would not be changed.
Equipment - Pray for wisdom and resources.
We never seem to be able to keep everything running at once. Currently
there are no motor boats operational. The tractor is in the shop. None
of the small riding mowers are fully operational. It is a lot for Ralph
to keep up with and we put a lot of hours on our equipment during the
year. Pray with us as we make decisions about repair versus replacement.
Pray that the Lord will provide volunteers that are able to work on our
equipment.
We have a generator that is big enough to run the freezers, the kitchen,
and light the dining hall. It has been onsite for two years and in place
for nearly one. We need an electrical engineer to do the permitting and
a master electrician to hook it up.
The pool drain needs to be replaced this fall to meet federal law.
Vehicles for Sale - Pray for buyers
1994 Ford Taurus that was donated specifically to sell
5th Wheel RV that is also for sale
Camper Followup
Many of our campers do not list an assembly/fellowship/church on their
camper application. Others make professions of faith in Christ, but do
not attend an evangelical fellowship where they will receive sound Bible
teaching. It has been suggested that we offer correspondence courses to
campers - targeting those that have made a profession of faith at camp
or do not have a home fellowship on file. This requires time and resources.
Pray for both.
Pray as counselors and staff have opportunities to correspond with their
campers and point them to a place where they can hear God's Word proclaimed.
Year-Round Collegian
One way that has been used to increase the on-site staffing has been
to host a college student at camp. They can live onsite while they study
at Lake Sumter Community College or the 2+2 UCF program. There is no budget
for a stipend, but we can provide a place to stay at camp in exchange
for helping with retreats and routine maintenance. In the past these have
always been young men. However, there is no reason that a young woman
could not serve with us. Two might be even better.
Staff Education
It is time for Kitty to renew her Foodservice Manager certificate
(8 hour course / test).
Steve needs to become a certified pool technician this fall (16 hour course
/ test).

Married Couples
(+ Youth Camp)
February 5-7, 2010
This
retreat is designed to provide refreshment and encouragement to
married couples. The folks
who need this most usually have children that need to be cared for. That is the “+” for this retreat. You can put your children in Youth Camp while
you enjoy a weekend together.
