This camp is amazing! I went to it as a child. My father and aunts went when they were kids and my daughter and nieces and nephews go now. They keep you so busy that you don’t have time to be homesick. The staff is super friendly and make the experience very comfortable. Definitely worth the experience! You’re kids will definitely want to go back!

My children have been going to this camp for several years and each time I pick them up, I know I’ve found the right summer camp for them. There are countless activities, outdoor experiences and the much needed breaks from technology. My children come back with new stories and new friends every time. They feel proud of their special memories and abilities to grow in this special place. Thank you camp horizon for being that special place for my children.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring to camp?

Please bring a heart prepared to worship and learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ. We offer a suggested packing list.

In general, pack clothing of a simple nature that can get dirty and leave valuables at home so they are not lost or damaged. We strongly encourage you to label your child’s belongings.

What is the camp dress code?

In order to ensure that clothing worn by both campers and staff will contribute to the spirit of camp in a positive way, the following guidelines are provided. The dress code applies to both genders. Your child will be asked to comply with the dress code.

SHORTS/PANTS: Must be at least mid-thigh.  Shorts or pants that are too tight need to be worn with a long shirt that covers. No words written across the bottom.

SHIRTS: Must cover the midriff at all times and must not hang low underneath the arm. No tank-tops in the chapel or dining hall. No tight shirts or those that hang low and reveal cleavage or undergarments (i.e. NO low shirts, spaghetti strap shirts, tube tops).

SHOES: Required in the dining hall and chapel

SWIMSUITS:

Girls: One-piece suits and tankinis that cover the midsection at all times are permitted (revealing mesh cut outs and monokinis are not permitted). Suits should not reveal cleavage, should cover the mid-section, not be high cut or reveal the buttocks (i.e. “cheeky”). If your suit does not meet these requirements, bring along a pair of shorts and/or dark T-shirt to be worn over it at all times.

Guys: See rules for “shorts”. The same rule applies.

DRESSES, SKIRTS, AND ROMPERS: Meet the same requirements of shorts and shirts. Dress outfits for banquet must meet the same requirements.

PAJAMAS: Are not to be worn outside of sleeping areas

What should we NOT pack?

The following items are not allowed at camp:

  • Tobacco/vaping products
  • Illicit drugs
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Matches, lighters, fireworks
  • Weapons, ammunition
  • Electronic devices (e.g., phones, tablets, music players, etc.)
  • Gum
  • Things that may destroy camp property (e.g., spray paint, silly string, gum, etc.)

All money should be deposited into your account or locked in the office

How much spending money should I send?

Spending money is not required. However, most campers enjoy visiting Snak Shak. Snak Shak has sodas/drinks, snacks (candy bars, chips, snow cones, etc.), Camp Horizon gear, and more for purchase.

Snak Shak is open to Junior and Youth campers once a day and twice a day for Varsity campers. We suggest a budget of $15/week for Junior/Youth campers and $30/week for Varsity campers.

There is no limit imposed by Camp Horizon. When you check in, you can leave money for your camper to spend throughout the week. We’ll keep it safe in our store and return any extra at the end of the week.

What activities are offered at camp?

Junior and Youth camps sign up for four activities and Varsity camp signs up for three. Activities include but are not limited to archery, riflery, basketball, volleyball, swimming, canoeing, sailing, waterskiing, and handicrafts. Activities vary by week and staff availability but at least 8 activities are offered each week.

Do activities cost extra?

All activities except Tubing/Skiing ($60) are included.

The parent chooses this skiing or tubing as a PAID ACTIVITY during registration.  You can add this until seven days before the camp session begins.

What are Camp Horizon's sick Protocols?

Camp Horizon is unable to quarantine or isolate a camper for more than a few hours. If a camper is suspected of having a communicable illness (putting other campers/staff at risk), the parent or guardian must arrange for transportation home within four hours. Examples include but are not limited to: Parasites [i.e. Lice], Suspected Viral Infections [i.e. Flu/Flu-like symptoms, diarrhea, vomiting, fever], or Suspected Bacterial Infection [‘pink-eye’].

Overnight summer camp participation includes possible exposure to illness from infectious diseases, including but not limited to bacterial and viral infections. At this time we do not require staff/campers to be vaccinated or disclose vaccination status.

What time is drop off and pick up?

Drop-off is Sunday afternoon from 1:30-3:30 pm. Pick-up is 9-10am on Saturday. We are unable to process early arrivals. Please let us know at drop-off if you need to pick up your child early.
